I have a soft spot for this game as I love Roxas as a character, he’s more relatable than Sora in my opinion because you see he’s not just a happy goofball all the time, far from it in fact. Larxene is a pain, Marluxia is difficult, and the fight as Riku against Leaxus is hard as well, other than that it’s KH1 with a few more boss fights and mechanics that have no place in this franchise. You’re taught how cards work in the most basic form possible, then set loose on your journey through castle oblivion, not really knowing where you are going.

This game is hard because most of the time you don’t really know how it works. Then Atlantica is a thing, and while the Ansem boss fights aren’t super difficult, Maleficent and Riku are, putting KH1 at 5.Ĥ: Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories and re:chain of memories: That other one is later, but for KH1, you are let go after Traverse town, then you can choose between facing the infuriating Kabob-stick man, Clayton, or try and take on the coliseum (which you shouldn’t do because the coliseum is meant to be done last for a reason, you’ll die a lot). This game and one other game in this franchise don’t hold your hand very much. 1: this is the weakest Sora we ever play as, 2: the camera in this game isn’t the greatest, 3: early game bosses and mechanics can be quite frustrating. One of the final bosses in this game is a technicolor darkside, need I say anymore.ĥ: Kingdom Hearts: The original game finds its way at the middle of the list because of a few things.

The bosses in here you know how to beat already and are easier than they used to be. This KH1 rehash with blocks is very annoying but not hard.

Xemnas is the easiest final boss in the series in my opinion, but the other encounters with organization members, dancing water, and freaking roxas put this game above KH3 in that sense.Ħ: Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded: By far the worst handheld KH game and by far the easiest.

Lingering Will is by far the hardest boss fight in the series but the rest of the game is fairly easy. Between the overwhelming amount of situation commands and attractions, magic in general has never felt stronger and the final boss when I was done I was like, that’s it? I’m done? Before I go to the next game, this list does not include secret boss fights or after game encounters, as it’s not fair to rank a game higher than another one based off of one encounter if that makes any sense. If you have played the game then you must understand why it’s at the bottom of the list. I want to see how different play styles contribute to the difficulty of the games, so anyway here are my picks: I wanted to make this not only for myself and to share my opinions, but to get a discussion going on whether people disagree with my picks or think I cheated a game or found a game hard that was easy. As a longtime veteran to this series and having played all the games more than once on the hardest difficulty (only exception is re:coded because that game is dumpster fire and I don’t think many will disagree).
